The incredible Amfax a3Di PCBA inspection machine scoops its second award in 8 months. This time a3Di won a finalist award in the Advanced Manufacturing category at the National Instruments Engineering Impact Awards in London on the 27th November.
The award was presented to Peter Juracic, one of the lead software developers for a3Di by Robert Morton, NI's VP of Sales, EMEIA region. The a3Di machine was recognized for its contribution to improving quality standards in PCBA manufacturing and for creating a paradym shift of providing measurement accuracy to the traditionally inaccurate area of PCBA inspection. The Amfax a3Di team were out in force at Productronica this year in Munich. The system took centre stage on the Systech Europe booth. We would like to thank all of the attendees who spent time with us to get to know the business benefits that taking real 3D measurements of components and solder joints can deliver. Alan Smith, Managing Director of Amfax and Mike Smith, product manager for a3Di are seen with the a3Di machine that caused a great deal of excitement at the show. Mike commented "It is great to see that companies are now realising the incredible business benefits that a3Di brings to the PCBA inspection market. The new software tools we have introduced at Productonica this year for fast programming and autotuning of boards along with the incredible new board debug capabilities keep a3Di well ahead of any other PCBA inspection machine currently available" Rory is shown explaining the benefits of the new board debugging software to an interested visitor at the show, For those who watch Robot Wars on TV, you may recognise Rory as he was participating on last weeks episode with his own robot team. Building robots is Rory's other passion when he is not developing new software as part of the a3Di team at Amfax.
We are pleased to announce that the a3Di PCBA inspection system will be available for demonstrations during this years Productronica exhibition in Munich. Amfax are sending a number of PCBA inspection engineers to the event so please do stop by the booth. The system will be on the Systech Europe booth. Hall A1 Booth 239
The dates of the event are: November 14 – 17, 2017 Messe München, Germany The Amfax a3Di PCBA inspection system was a finalist at the NI Industry Impact awards held in Austin, Texas tonight. It was a finalist on the Electronics and Semiconductor segment. This prestigious award event recognizes the impact technology has on industry and the world we live in. The award was presented to Amfax by Dr James Trouchard, Founder of NI, a NASDAQ company. The Amfax a3DI PCB inspection machine will be available for on stand demonstrations during the SMT show in Nuremberg between 16th and 18th May 2017. The system will be on the SYSTECH Europe GmbH booth number 4A-340. We look forward to showing you the benefits of the a3Di system in more detail.
Amfax have recently successfully completed an 18 month Innovate UK grant funded investigation of IPC 610 solder joints using the Amfax a3Di system. This involved a number of high profile companies including Rolls Royce and the Manufacturing Technology Center (MTC). Amfax were the project lead and used the a3Di system to generate the Worlds first 3D database of SMT solder joints. This database was then used to tune the a3Di's solder joint algorithms to enable it to verify IPC610 class 1, 2 or 3 measurements. The investigation also included the generation of known bad solder joints for many different joint types. This was achieved by using techniques and experiments developed by the consortium members, including the manufacture by the members of 200 double-side PCBAs using both leaded and lead free solder.
A full report of the study's findings is now available and we will be happy to share the report with interested parties. Contact us today to receive your copy. The Amfax a3Di PCBA inspection system will be on show at the APEX Expo in San Diego. It will be on the TEAM-ATE, our US ditributors stand which is number 509. Try to catch up with Mike Blackler from TEAM to arrange a demonstration at the show
Amfax: laser technology improves qualityTest systems provider develops laser technology to vastly improve quality control of electronic circuit boards without an increase in costs. Test systems solution provider Amfax has developed a unique scanning technology that offers manufacturers tighter quality control without an increase in costs.
The Amfax system massively outperforms competitor technology for the same cost and could see its use expand from electronics manufacturing to other industries such as semiconductors. The increasingly small size of circuit boards has made traditional inspection systems less reliable. Traditional systems compare images of newly manufactured circuit boards to a reference image. As circuits become more densely packed and components smaller, it becomes difficult to identify any error smaller than a missing component using this method. Join Amfax at Electronica and take the opportunity to catch the a3Di PCBA inspection machine in action. Dave Hall, our industry expert will be showing what really makes the a3Di so unique and why there is nothing else that matches its inspection performance. Amfax are on booth A1.158. We look forward to meeting you there
